There's something very beguiling about medical illustration reduced down to simple geometric shapes. Only in the 50's could an advert for fabric whitener look like a minimalist techno record cover. This is a great book, full of beautiful work.

That first picture looks like a flavorful cocktail olive. I'd love to see the martini that came with!

Can anybody help me? I saw an amazing poster/ad in a design book, and then lost the piece of paper on which I wrote down all the information about it. Is there a forum or a site where I can ask people if they have seen it? (It was a German ad (or maybe poster) from the 1980s I would guess. A hand with a paintbrush stroking down, with yellow paint, and copy to the right of the paint, in German.)

Miss Jaypeg,

In answer to your metroplis question, this is the last book I bought from there - very nice too.

What does RSS do (anyone feel free to answer!)
